Multnomah County 24-Hour Release Limits
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office does not publish a distinct 24-hour release feed. Its Public Access to Inmate Data, or PAID, offers “Released Last 7 Days.” First and last names are optional, so the search can return the full rolling list. The results are created after the form is submitted. There is no stable same-day results URL, and the county does not state a refresh schedule. It should not be called real time.
To make a 24-hour view, open each possible match and compare the displayed Release Date with the start of the desired local-day window. The list row itself shows a name and booking date. Booking date is not release date. A booking can be much older yet appear because the person left custody during the current seven-day window.
Check Multnomah County Same-Day Releases
PAID is the best official starting point for a county-jail release from the Multnomah County Detention Center or Multnomah County Inverness Jail. Match more than a shared name. The booking detail provides a SWIS identifier, age, arresting agency, case data, facility, charges, and release fields that help distinguish one person or booking from another.
- Open PAID and select Released Last 7 Days.
- Enter the name, or leave both name fields blank to browse the rolling list.
- Open each relevant booking. Do not use the list's booking date as the release date.
- Compare the actual Release Date with the start and end of the last 24-hour period you mean.
- Read Release Reason and facility, then call Jail Information when physical departure still needs confirmation.
PAID does not state a time zone in its result instructions. Treat the displayed date and time in their local Multnomah County context, and avoid a minute-perfect claim at the boundary. Multnomah County Release Record Fields
A positive PAID result is an event record. It connects one person to one booking and states how that booking ended. It is not a full account of every warrant, case, sentence, or agency that might affect the person.

A release can mean bail, recognizance, conditional or pretrial release, time served, sentence completion, transfer, or emergency capacity release. Release from a jail building does not always mean unrestricted return to the community. A transfer to ODOC or another authority ends the county booking while custody continues elsewhere.
Verify Multnomah County Releases Offline
When PAID has not caught up, call MCSO Jail Information at 503-988-3689. The county FAQ says that line is answered all day, every day and can check custody, location, and charges. A phone answer is useful for current status. For durable proof, submit a focused request through the MCSO public-records portal and ask for the booking or custody record, actual release date, release reason, and any releasable agreement or order.
Oregon VISOR can send a release or transfer notice for a registered person in county or state custody. It is the current statewide service, replacing legacy VINE or VINELink terms. A VISOR alert records a reported custody change, not a certified historical release record. For a state-prison release, use Oregon Offender Search and ODOC records instead of the county seven-day list. A county-jail-only booking may never appear in ODOC's system.

Multnomah Release Versus Custody
“Now In Custody” and “Released Last 7 Days” answer different questions. A current listing indicates that PAID still treats the person as held in a Multnomah County jail. A released booking detail contains the actual release date and reason. Yet even that record must be read for transfer language or another custody authority before describing a community release.

When Multnomah Release Approval Becomes Exit
MCSO warns that approval is not the same moment as walking out. The PAID frequently asked questions say release processing may take four to five hours. Staff do not give an exact release time because the sequence is unpredictable. Court paperwork, database status, a VISOR alert, and physical departure can therefore occur at different points.
This gap matters most in a same-day check. A court order may authorize release while intake staff still finish identity, property, hold, transport, and record tasks. Do not tell someone to expect a precise door time. If direct confirmation is important, call Jail Information and ask about current status. Multnomah Bail Release and Scam Risks
Release on bail ends the jail stay while the criminal case remains pending. MCSO identifies official TouchPay and in-person bail channels. TouchPay uses MCSO facility number 297204. Inverness Jail accepts self-bail daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., while the Justice Center lobby accepts in-person bail at all hours, including weekends and holidays.
Oregon does not use commercial bail-bond companies. Multnomah County has also warned of scams aimed at people awaiting release, so demands for an unlisted payment route should be checked with the jail. Recognizance and pretrial supervision can also end custody without resolving the case. The release record and court docket should be read together when the precise terms matter.
Multnomah Emergency Releases Stay Separate
PAID includes “Emergency Releases Last 7 Days” as a separate search. It reflects Multnomah County's capacity-management process and is not a shortcut for all fast or same-day releases. County material says emergency procedures begin when jails reach 95 percent of funded capacity and then apply defined criteria. A person shown only in the general release list must not be labeled an emergency release.
Run both search types only when the distinction is relevant. The ordinary seven-day result is the main route for county releases. The emergency view answers a narrower question about the county's stated mechanism. In either list, open the booking detail and verify the date, reason, facility, and charge status.
Multnomah Release Lists Outlast PAID
The public screen lasts seven days, but the underlying records last far longer. Under the MCSO19 retention schedule, booking and inmate-history records are kept for 20 years. Inmate case records are retained for five years after release. Daily inmate population reports, including released lists, are retained for five years. The FAQ says available jail records date to January 1986, subject to the applicable series and disclosure rules.
Retention does not guarantee that every field can be released. It means an older event may still be requestable after PAID removes it from the convenience window. A focused GovQA request should state the person's name, SWIS ID or booking number if known, booking date range, facility, and the exact release fields sought. That scope helps MCSO locate the correct record and assess exemptions or fees.
